When I designed this lovely couple’s wedding invitation, I had no idea it was going to make such a splash. Shayni came to me knowing exactly what she wanted, right down to Pantone shade of green. This beachy boho bride wanted an invite that would depict her fiancé and her personal personal style…outdoorsy, fuss free and thrill seeking. She fell in love with letterpress and wanted a design that was organic yet modern so we decided on a typographical layout.
It was an intimate wedding with close family and friends. Shayni Couch, nee Hawkins, 24, grew up in Tutukaka and worked for Dive! Tutukaka during school holidays from the age of 15. She met her fiancé Micah while skydiving. Micah is from the USA, and his entire family flew down for this cliff top wedding on the Tutukaka Coast in New Zealand at the beautiful Lodge at Matapouri. Their wedding pictures truly depict that they are no traditional couple.
They made the news with their jaw dropping, beautiful wedding picture, by Warren Williams from Williamsphotography. The photo is taken beneath the El Torito Arch, and the couple braved the fresh 19C water, with Mrs Couch in her wedding dress. Talk about spectacular trash the dress photography.
“Trash the dress”, also known as “fearless bridal” or “rock the frock”, is a style of wedding photography that contrasts elegant clothing with an environment in which it is out of place. It is generally shot in the style of fashion or glamour photography. Such photography often takes place on a beach, but other locations include city streets, rooftops, garbage dumps, fields, and abandoned buildings. The woman often wears a ball gown, prom dress or wedding dress, and may effectively ruin the dress in the process by getting it wet, dirty, or, in extreme circumstances, tearing or destroying the garment.
