My daughter is OBSESSED with My Little pony, so when her 5th birthday party came around this year, the theme was a no brainer. We were going to have her party in the park with a few of her best friends. It is quite nice having a birthday party in the park when the weather gets cooler in Dubai, but we were well aware of the task of packing and transporting delicate décor and melting desserts to be setup in a place that doesn’t necessarily have the best party furniture! So this time I thought of having individual, pre-packed picnic baskets for each child and filling them with irresistible treats. I wanted a good mix of savoury and sweet and of course they all had to be personalised with printables! They were a great idea as the kids were so excited to be handed their own little basket. Nobody had to be fed and no one had to tell them to eat their greens before their sweets.
I chose a palette of bright and happy colours, inspired by the rainbow. But the overall theme had pastel shades of pinks, purples, yellows and blues of the popular ponies Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, apple Jack, Rarity, Fluttershy & Twighlight Sparkle. Each girl also had her own pony mask and tail in the actual colours of the ponies. Their cutie marks were stickers for mini water bottles and cupcake toppers.
There cannot be a My Little Pony party without rainbow cake. This gorgeous cake is from Humming Bird bakery and they make with simple bubblegum flavour white icing. The surprise in when you cut it open revealing the seven different coloured layers. You can expect that was a crowd pleaser!
