Want to add a little fun and whimsy to your wedding? That’s easy! Hire a caricature artist to create a work of art perfectly made for you. You often find them at weekend markets of seasonal fairs. Caricatures are fun, playful and totally unique to you, your fiancé and the things that you love. Artists can draw you in person or work from photos to create a unique piece and they can even include your pets, sports, college, and other favorite things in the artwork. What a wonderful way to add some personality to your wedding invitation. Custom art is also an investment that you will have for the rest of your life, much like your spouse! Your artwork can be framed and displayed at your wedding or used for your save-the-dates or thank you’s. There are even places that offer custom caricature cake toppers and bobble-heads. A wonderful surprise would be to hire a caricature artist to draw your guests live at your wedding reception. It would be a great, unexpected alternative to a photo booth! Kathy and Markus, had their portrait sketched out and wanted to use this illustration on their wedding invite. The beautiful bride and dashing groom made a pretty picture in the style of the Hollywood hit, ‘Mrs & Mrs Smith’. The original hand-drawing had the couple leaning on the word “LOVE”. I replaced it with the words Mr & Mrs, to echo the style of the illustration. Their wedding was to be held in a castle in Denmark, with a very intimate ceremony and reception with a handful of family and best friends. This young couple wanted their invitations to be unconventional, and intentionally didn’t want to go the regal elaborate way, because they had a very selected guest list and thought their quirky character should dictate the style of their invitation. I designed the invite to have a pop of red to set off the otherwise monochromatic invitation card. The back of the card featured the crest of Næsbyholm Slot Castle. The red ‘&’ was also repeated in the custom invitation addressing. The invitations were hand delivered to each guest.
